Maxell, Ltd. will begin selling its “Identity Verification Solution” through its sales partner Yamato System Development Co., Ltd. from late March 2026. The solution reads personal information on My Number cards and driver’s licenses using an IC card reader to determine authenticity and verify identity.
In recent years, crimes involving cleverly crafted forged documents have been on the rise, becoming a major social problem. In response to this, from April 2027, it is expected that identity verification by reading the IC chip on an individual number card or driver’s license will become mandatory at bank and other financial institution counters.

To meet these societal needs, Maxell has developed a solution that allows for easy identity verification using existing Windows PCs by adding a newly developed verification function to the IC card reader/writer technology it has cultivated over many years. This solution combines the contactless IC card reader/writers “M-1850S” and “M-1860B”, which have a proven track record in online qualification verification, with an application that displays data obtained from the IC chip as an image of the actual card face. By introducing this solution, existing PCs can be used, eliminating the need to build a large-scale system, and initial setup man-hours can be reduced.
