OPTAGE Inc. will enter the first full MVNO business in Japan that supports data, voice, and SMS communications with au for its mobile phone service “mineo” The business is scheduled to start in the second half of fiscal year 2027.
Through this initiative, as a full voice MVNO operator, we will provide not only data communications but also our own equipment for voice and SMS communications, manage telephone numbers, and issue our own SIM cards. As a result, we aim to strengthen our competitiveness by providing voice services such as unlimited calling, flexible design of highly unique data communications services, and added value such as international roaming. We will also develop original services to meet IoT demand for corporate customers.
Furthermore, this entry into the full voice MVNO business with au marks the first step towards the future development of a full voice MVNO business by multiple carriers.

Currently, many MVNO operators rent most of their facilities from MNOs to provide services, and are known as light MVNOs.
Since launching its service in 2014, mineo has offered unique services, such as a system where users can share packets among themselves, despite its position as a light MVNO. In the data communications field in particular, mineo responds to diverse customer needs through flexible service design, and develops its services together with users through dialogue under its brand statement, “Fun with Fans!”
By entering the full voice MVNO business, mineo will be able to handle core communications functions such as providing voice/SMS communications, issuing SIM cards, and managing phone numbers in-house, in addition to data communications. This will enable the design of voice services that are more in line with customer needs than ever before, and will aim to create a more flexible communications experience that integrates data communications and voice communications.
