NEC Corporation ( NEC ) announced on the 17th that it will launch a new brand of next-generation cybersecurity service, “CyIOC,” that combines NEC’s proprietary intelligence and AI technology to protect companies operating domestically and globally from cyber threats. Specifically, the service will utilize NEC’s proprietary threat intelligence to comprehensively support operational optimization, including the supply chain, from identifying signs of cyberattacks to proactive defense, analyzing geopolitical cyber threats, and providing information, reporting, and incident response based on global attack trends. The first service, the “CyIOC Cyber Security Protection Package,” will be available in November. This package will utilize proprietary intelligence from a dedicated Cyber Threat Intelligence team to support monitoring, analysis, defense, and primary response.
NEC explains that economically motivated cyberattacks are becoming more intense, and that attack methods are diversifying, including targeted attacks and supply chain attacks, making it difficult to respond with traditional security measures alone. Furthermore, the Japanese government has introduced a security clearance system to manage important government-held cybersecurity information, and the need for active cyber defense (ACD) is growing.
In response, NEC has set a new mission of “protecting .JP (Japan’s cyberspace)” and is working to strengthen its cybersecurity business. Through the provision of CyIOC, NEC will protect customers from cyberattacks that threaten corporate activities and comprehensively support the strengthening of cyber resilience. The CyIOC Cyber Security Protection Package utilizes NEC’s proprietary intelligence in addition to security product alert analysis to quickly detect signs of unknown attacks that are difficult to detect with conventional methods.

Furthermore, a dedicated Cyber Threat Intelligence team collects and analyzes threat information targeting Japan based on the dark web and geopolitical risks. This enables NEC to identify potential threats that cannot be detected using conventional methods, and more accurately identifies the scope of impact on customers, the type of attack, and damage to assets, supporting rapid and appropriate initial response. Furthermore, by leveraging analytical know-how cultivated through its existing Managed Security Service (MSS), the system automates a series of processes, including analysis and initial response. This shortens the time from intrusion detection to reporting to customers. Analysts can focus on issues that are difficult to address through automation, enabling more advanced analysis and specialized response. NEC will deploy Cyber Intelligence & Operation Centers in four global locations: Japan, APAC, EU, and the US, and will provide 24/7 monitoring and operation. This will enable the deployment of Japanese-quality MSS to the Japanese government, critical infrastructure operators, and Japanese companies operating overseas, including in the supply chain, contributing to strengthening governance on a global scale . Each location will also implement data protection in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country and region, and operate with high security standards benchmarked against NIST SP800-171, the advanced security standard required by US government agencies.
Furthermore, NEC will utilize its generative AI “cotomi” to develop two types of AI agents to present threats and risks tailored to customers’ industries and systems, along with their level of impact, including one that collects and selects cyber threats tailored to each company, industry, and system type, and another that performs business risk assessments specific to each company. These will be incorporated into CyIOC and offered. The price of the CyIOC Cyber Security Protection Package starts at 3 million yen per month for the minimum configuration. NEC aims for sales of approximately 40 billion yen in fiscal 2030.
