Perplexity backs Japanese startups, partners with ANRI VC

Perplexity AI, Inc., developer of the AI answer engine “Perplexity,” will launch a “VC Partnership Program” specifically to support Japanese startups from August 2025. As the first step in this initiative, we are pleased to announce a partnership with ANRI, an independent venture capital firm.

Through this partnership, ANRI-backed startups will receive six months of free access to Perplexity Enterprise Pro , an advanced AI search solution for businesses, as well as $5,000 in free credits for the Perplexity API.

Perplexity is a conversational search service that utilizes generative AI technology. Since its launch in 2022, the number of users has been rapidly expanding, primarily in the United States. In particular, since 2024, the company has been strengthening its corporate and professional features, and the service has been adopted by more than 10,000 companies and institutions globally (as of July 2025).

The newly launched “VC Partnership Program” is aimed at venture capital firms supporting the growth of startups, and provides portfolio companies with a six-month Perplexity Enterprise Pro plan and $5,000 in Perplexity API credits free of charge for a certain period of time. The program aims to encourage the practical use of AI in startup operations and support growth while minimizing the cost of implementing the tool.
