Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has teamed up with Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. This company belongs to Dongfang Electric Group. It is a leading manufacturer of heavy electrical equipment in China. They will supply four circulating water pumps for Units 5 and 6 at the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant in Zhejiang, China.
This is the first order from the partnership between MHI and Dongfang Electric. The two companies aim to increase their presence in China’s nuclear pump market by teaming up. The order shows MHI Group’s plan for global teamwork. This helps them share their technologies, products, and services with more customers.
The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is in Sanmen County, Taizhou City. It runs Units 1 and 2. Units 3 and 4 are still being built. Units 5 and 6 will feature the Hualong 1 (HPR1000), a 1,215 MWe class pressurized water reactor developed in China.

Circulating water pumps are vital for cooling in pressurized water reactors. They move large amounts of water from the intake source to the condenser. MHI has delivered more than 500 pumps worldwide. This shows their skill and expertise in this area.
