NVIDIA and RIKEN launch Japan’s next-gen supercomputing

The RIKEN research institute in Japan has entered into a partnership with NVIDIA to establish next-generation supercomputing platforms that will be used in the acceleration of scientific research, innovation of artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. This collaboration is a key moment in Japan's plans to fuel its next wave of technology leadership. What the Project Entails The partnership focuses on FugakuNEXT. This new "AI-HPC" platform will take over Japan's main supercomputer, Fugaku. GPU-accelerated design: FugakuNEXT will be the first major Japanese supercomputer to use NVIDIA GPUs. This will allow for efficient parallel processing and AI training. Hybrid architecture: Fujitsu handles the CPU system integration. RIKEN leads the software and algorithm development. This mixture of CPUs and GPUs is set to deliver both traditional simulation and AI workloads. Ambitious Performance Goals:…
