Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Fujitsu Collaborate to Develop AI-Driven Data Analytics Business
On April 3, 2025, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Fujitsu Limited signed a MoU. SMBC is led by President and CEO Fukudome Akihiro. Fujitsu is headed by President and CEO Tokita Takahito. They will explore developing a data analytics business together. This initiative seeks to improve decision-making and boost operational efficiency for customers. It does this through advanced AI-driven data analysis. Addressing Key Challenges Japan faces big challenges. Labor shortages and rising costs are major issues. These problems come from an aging population and a smaller workforce. Corporate sustainability efforts are getting more attention. Reducing CO2 emissions, cutting excess inventory, and limiting industrial waste are key steps.
