Fusion Fuel Cycles Receives CA$20M to Advance UNITY-2

Fusion Fuel Cycles Inc. FFC, a partnership between Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and Kyoto Fusioneering, received a CA$20 million loan. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation  (JBIC) and MUFG Bank funded the UNITY-2 project. UNITY-2 is the world’s first fully integrated fusion fuel cycle test facility. It aims to create real-world settings for developing and testing technologies for future fusion power plants. This funding shows how Canada and Japan are working closely together. They aim to advance fusion energy, which is seen as key to long-term decarbonization. UNITY-2 blends Canada’s tritium skills with Japan’s top-notch heat management technology.
