NTT DATA, a global leader in technology services and digital businesses, announced the acceleration of the expansion of its Global Data Centers business by purchasing land in North America, Europe and Asia over the past six months to support nearly one gigawatt of planned data center capacity. This growth is part of NTT DATA’s previously announced investment of USD 10 billion , with which the company aims to expand its business through 2027.

NTT DATA’s Expanding Global Data Center Presence
With the rapid expansion of AI-based applications and increasing reliance on cloud computing, enterprises need infrastructure that can support high-performance workloads and data-intensive applications. Over the past six months, NTT DATA has acquired land in seven high-demand markets, positioning the company to provide scalable, AI-ready infrastructure to meet the growing needs of enterprises.

NTT DATA’s key land acquisitions include:
Land acquisition in new markets:
- Milan, Italy : By entering this new market, NTT DATA will launch operations in Milan to meet the growing demand for hyperscale and AI-ready infrastructure in Southern Europe. The newly acquired 21-hectare site will house a facility with a capacity of 128 MW.
- Tochigi, Japan : Acquired 13 hectares of land in the Tochigi Inter Industrial Park near Tokyo. It is planned to include two high-capacity data centers with a total capacity of 100 MW.
Land acquisition in existing markets:
- Hillsboro, Oregon, USA: Acquisition of new land to expand presence in Hillsboro, a region strategically located within the Pacific Northwest technology corridor with direct connectivity to Asia via NTT’s Subsea Connect network. The new site will add an additional 216 MW of capacity to NTT DATA’s current Hillsboro presence, bringing NTT DATA’s total planned capacity in the Hillsboro market to 354 MW.
- Phoenix, Arizona, USA : Acquired 70.5 hectares of land in Mesa, Arizona to develop a new multi-data center campus, with seven facilities planned and a projected capacity of 324 MW. The first data center is scheduled to open in fiscal 2028. NTT DATA has an existing 41-hectare campus that supports a capacity of 240 MW. With the new campus, the total planned capacity will be just under 600 MW.
- London, England : Acquired 10.5 hectares of land for a new planned site (LON2) and acquired the underlying freehold of existing London facilities, strengthening NTT DATA’s position in one of the world’s most active colocation markets and a strategic hub for multinational enterprises. The new London facility will be NTT DATA’s eighth facility in the London area.
- Frankfurt, Germany : Expanding its presence in Germany’s financial and technology capital, home to DE-CIX, one of the world’s largest internet exchange points and a key location for hyperscale facilities and enterprises requiring high-capacity, secure infrastructure. The new facility will be NTT DATA’s fifth site in the Frankfurt area and is expected to generate an additional 80 MW of capacity.
- Osaka, Japan : Acquired 3.2 hectares in Osaka Nishiai for the development of two data centers, with a total capacity of 36 MW. The first facility is scheduled to open in fiscal 2027, bringing NTT DATA’s total number of data centers in the Osaka region to three, with a total capacity of approximately 70 MW.

As the world’s third-largest data center provider, NTT Global Data Centers continued to accelerate its global footprint over the past year, opening 10 new data centers across North America, EMEA, and APAC, adding more than 370 MW of new IT capacity. These efforts are part of NTT Global Data Centers’ broader strategy to invest more than USD 10 billion through 2027 to provide AI-ready, key infrastructure to support the growing digital economy.
