Hitachi Vantara LLC, a US subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced that it has launched Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) SDS on Microsoft’s online store, the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. Azure Marketplace is an online store offering applications and services available on Microsoft Azure. This update enables Hitachi Vantara customers to leverage the productivity and reliability of the Azure cloud platform while achieving efficient operations, including simplified data deployment and management. This update also enables enterprises to achieve enterprise-class data management and protection across systems spanning Azure and on-premises. Furthermore, built-in data compression, thin provisioning, and replication capabilities help simplify operations and manage cloud costs.
Today’s businesses are being asked to do more with less. According to an IDC survey, 82% of cloud adopters recognize the need for cloud modernization, but also cite challenges such as skills shortages, talent shortages, and increasing complexity in hybrid and multi-cloud management. These inefficiencies, combined with exponentially increasing data volumes and limited visibility into hybrid cloud environments, are contributing to billions of dollars of unnecessary spending and the need for automation, governance, and cost management.
To address these challenges, VSP One SDS now supports Azure, enabling enterprises to thinly provision, manage, and protect storage through a single control plane, simplifying operations across on-premises and cloud environments. Built-in thin provisioning and enterprise-class data compression reduce cloud storage costs by up to 40%. Bidirectional asynchronous replication enhances disaster recovery, improving uptime and recovery times in the event of a failure. These features enable organizations to migrate, test, and scale workloads across hybrid cloud environments without interruption, accelerating DevOps cycles, enabling flexible infrastructure planning, and robust business continuity. This trusted and proven platform also delivers high availability for continuous operation and high performance at scale.

“Enterprises are under pressure to modernize their infrastructure without disrupting existing systems,” said Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer, Hitachi Vantara. “By deploying VSP One on Azure, Azure customers can achieve new levels of resiliency, efficiency, and simplicity while extending the value of their existing investments. Our partner ecosystem also plays a key role in enabling this flexibility, reducing cost and complexity, as companies modernize at their own pace.”
The addition of Azure support gives Hitachi Vantara customers and partners greater flexibility in planning and deploying hybrid cloud environments. By leveraging VSP One as a consistent foundation integrated with the Azure cloud, organizations can strengthen data protection, improve operational efficiency, and maximize the value of their existing Hitachi Vantara storage. This seamless integration, combined with the expertise and support needed to simplify deployment and accelerate expansion from a trusted partner, enables a more agile and resilient hybrid environment.
“Azure Marketplace is a cloud marketplace that delivers flexibility and economic value while generating tens of billions of dollars in annual sales,” said Jake Zborowski, general manager, Microsoft Azure Platform Division, Microsoft Corporation. “We welcome Hitachi Vantara’s launch of VSP One. The collaboration between Azure Marketplace and partners like Hitachi Vantara enables companies to increase efficiency through reliable purchasing and smarter spending, enabling them to achieve more with less.”
The VSP One platform provides a single foundation for unifying block, file, and object storage across on-premises and cloud environments. This provides a unified operational environment regardless of data location, eliminating data silos, improving visibility, and simplifying operations in hybrid cloud environments. Designed for high availability, VSP One minimizes downtime and reduces investment in redundant infrastructure. This high reliability enables native data movement between different environments, ensuring business continuity without rebuilding or duplication.
These enhancements are part of a strategy to enable centralized operations and simplified management across distributed data environments, such as hybrid clouds, through the VSP One platform.
