Yahoo! Shopping, operated by LINE Yahoo! Corporation, is now offering a new feature called “Yahoo! Shopping Agent”, in which generative AI supports the entire purchasing process within Yahoo! Shopping, from users’ product selection and purchase, to checking delivery status after ordering, and even providing shopping assistance based on users’ attributes and purchase history.
While online shopping allows you to compare and consider from a huge range of products, it also creates challenges such as not knowing what to choose and taking too much time to compare and consider.
In response to these challenges, Yahoo! Shopping has gradually provided features to assist with product selection, such as review summaries and product comparisons that utilize generative AI, and interactive product suggestions during searches.

Now, Yahoo! Shopping will utilize the knowledge it has gained through its past efforts to evolve from the traditional shopping experience based on search results to an agent-style purchasing experience that understands the user’s intent and makes suggestions, aiming to provide a smoother shopping experience.
This function can be used from various shopping pages, such as the Yahoo! Shopping homepage, search results, and product details, and can be used not only when you first start looking for a product, but also while you are comparing and considering products while looking at search results and product details.
Even in situations where the conditions are vague, such as when choosing a gift, the generative AI will organize the information in a conversational format, suggest products, make comparisons, summarize product features, and provide consistent support from product search to purchase.
Additionally, the system appropriately utilizes information from Yahoo! Shopping, such as logged-in users’ past usage history, in accordance with the privacy policy, to suggest products that are suitable for each individual user. It also provides information on special offers, suggestions on the best time to purchase, and confirmation of estimated delivery dates and shipping costs, leading to a shopping experience that feels like receiving at-home customer service in a store. Furthermore, the AI generator can suggest adding products that catch users’ eye to their favorites, and users can receive notifications from the official LINE account when the price drops at a later date, allowing them to continue following products they are considering.
Going forward, we will gradually expand the functionality of the AI to improve the accuracy of suggestions and recommendations made by the AI based on usage and feedback, and the more the AI is used, the more actively it will be able to suggest products that suit the user.
