TomTom has tied up with SoundHound AI to show a different take on voice navigation, and they are putting it on display at CES 2026. The partnership connects TomTom’s AI Agent and automotive navigation app with SoundHound’s agent-based voice AI platform. The goal is simple. Make talking to your car not so much as giving orders but rather as having a regular chat.
Drivers can inquire about places, find EV chargers in a given location, or create multi-stop routes by just speaking. Additionally, they can get route-related information while on the way. Behind the scenes, multiple AI agents handle different tasks. Navigation can work alongside music, climate control, and calendar functions, which cuts down the need to keep looking at the screen.
TomTom’s AI Agent keeps watching traffic and road hazards ahead and suggests route changes when it makes sense. It also explains why a change is being suggested. For EV drivers, routing is shaped around charging preferences, nearby facilities, and time constraints, so trips are planned with fewer surprises.

For carmakers, the setup comes pre-integrated. That shortens development time and avoids constant custom use case work. The cloud takes care of updates, but the companies maintain control over the presentation and the atmosphere. The collaboration of TomTom and SoundHound at CES 2026 in Las Vegas is demonstrating the technology that is already capable of navigation, EV routing, hazard alerts, and lane-level guidance.
