Getty Images and Perplexity have joined hands in a global, multi-year licensing agreement that lets Perplexity use Getty’s vast library of creative and editorial images across its AI-powered search and discovery tools. The deal basically gives Perplexity direct access to Getty’s premium image bank through its API, so visuals on the platform don’t just look better but feel more credible and context-rich.
This is not simply a tech integration of a different kind. The decision is included in a larger endeavor to give AI search a more human, more visual, and less text-like experience. For Getty, it is an additional measure in safeguarding and profiting from its enormous visual archive. For Perplexity, it’s a way to raise the bar on how information is presented and cited.
