Oracle Corporation Japan announced that I-O DATA DEVICE, INC. has adopted Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as the infrastructure for its internal business applications, including product lifecycle management (PLM) and CRM, and has migrated over 100 virtual machines in its VMware environment to Oracle Cloud VMware Solution on OCI. This migration has significantly reduced operational burden compared to the previous approach, and is expected to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by 60% over the next few years.
I-O DATA DEVICE was facing challenges, including the approaching maintenance deadline for its on-premise servers, the management burden of its virtual environment and servers, including Oracle Database, troubleshooting, and vulnerability management. Furthermore, in preparation for recent changes in VMware product licensing and support systems, the company needed to transition to a more flexible and scalable IT infrastructure.
Given this situation, the company highly valued the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, which allows them to migrate to the cloud with minimal impact on applications and operational systems while making the most of their existing VMware skills. Cost competitiveness, compatibility with Oracle Base Database Service , and the ability to integrate and manage VMs and databases were also deciding factors in adopting OCI.

For this migration, the migration policy and system configuration were formulated in stages through feasibility studies and PoC support by Oracle Cloud Lift Services . In July 2025, the migration of over 100 virtual machines running on on-premises servers in an external data center was completed to Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. Going forward, the company will also gradually migrate virtual machines in its own server room.
By implementing OCI, the company has been freed from the resource-constrained tasks of business system design and server management, and is now embarking on full-scale system modernization and data utilization. Going forward, the company plans to establish a data analysis platform using オラクル Database on the cloud, accelerate digital transformation (DX) measures, and visualize and optimize entire business processes.
