FreeBit Co., Ltd. will be releasing for the first time an overview of “Portfolia,” a fully web3-implemented platform technology that the company has been planning and developing for over 20 years since its founding. “Portfolia” is an antithesis to the current state of modern platforms, presenting the shape of the Internet of the future.
Background: Social issues caused by excessive centralization and the race to develop AI
In recent years, there has been a race to build data centers around the world to meet the explosive demand for data. *1 However, behind the scenes, resources such as land, water, and electricity are becoming scarce, creating serious social issues. *2 In addition, the extreme race to develop AI that sucks up personal information from users and the distortion of the market caused by giant platforms are revealing the limits of centralized systems. *3 Now that expectations are rising that “AGI (artificial general intelligence) will solve everything,” FreeBit will use its technology to tackle the question, “Are we really building a digital society that is sustainable and protects the dignity of individuals?”
“Portfolia” and its technological structure: A multi-layered distributed platform that solves social issues
“Portfolia” is a core and symbolic entity born from the unique technologies that FreeBit has accumulated over the past 20 years since its founding. “Portfolia” realizes the construction of a platform that restores the idea of the “original Internet”. In addition, by integrating a new multi-layer decentralized platform (see below) with the basic technologies that FreeBit has cultivated, it will function as a “new node” on the Internet. This will allow users’ smartphones to become “part of the infrastructure supporting the new Internet,” and by using the surplus power, CPU, network, storage, etc. of smartphone use, and carefully connecting with the power of the user community, it will be possible to operate the core service part in a L1 blockchain environment running on smartphones in a serverless manner. This will provide a new solution to environmental burdens such as data center problems, and at the same time, it will ensure the “trust” of data, which did not exist as a protocol in the Internet infrastructure itself.

Multi-layer decentralized platform
DID Wallet (Decentralized Identity Wallet):
It has a built-in decentralized ID wallet that complies with W3C standards. Personal data and authentication information are securely stored on users’ smartphones using encryption technology, realizing self-sovereign ID/DATA management. This allows individuals to have complete sovereignty over their personal information, setting it apart from the current AI development and platform business models that suck up information and threaten privacy.
Mobile Blockchain (fully EVM compatible):
It is based on the EVM-compatible L1 blockchain “Trusta,” which operates stably on mobile devices. It provides an execution environment for decentralized applications (dApps). It is mainly responsible for running the server environment required for the DID wallet service in a decentralized manner, contributing to the complete decentralization of the DID wallet itself.
Emotion Link (SDN):
The application itself is a Software Defined Network (SDN) technology that can include a TCP/IP stack. This technology allows Portfolia to enable secure edge-to-edge communication and data sharing without relying on the various connection policies (such as various security policies) of the real Internet, and ensures reliable P2P communication of DID wallets in any environment.
Edge LLM:
By linking with a lightweight LLM (Large Language Model) that runs on an edge device (smartphone), we will strengthen local processing of data/VC and achieve both privacy protection and efficient service provision. Various AI models will be developed in collaboration with partners.
“Portfolia” is realized by carefully combining W3C-compatible DID wallet technology and multi-layer decentralized infrastructure (L2-L7 + blockchain) technology. In “Portfolia,” personal information is securely stored in the DID wallet on the user’s smartphone as various VCs (Verifiable Credentials), so external services cannot obtain information without the user’s explicit permission. In addition, by being built on a smartphone, users are recognized/abstracted on the Internet by their DID number and IPv6 address assigned by SDN, and the server side does not hold any personal information. This is also FreeBit’s powerful antithesis to the social problems created by current platform providers.
Portfolia is already being put into practical use in projects with several major companies, and is scheduled to be introduced in multiple services within the year.
