Ridge-i Inc., a consulting and development firm specializing in AI and deep learning technologies, has announced a collaboration with Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. to create an advanced platform that merges generative AI with Earth observation data.
In March 2025, Ridge-i unveiled a demonstration project in partnership with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) focused on AI for Earth digital twin research. As part of this initiative, the company developed an interactive AI prototype that integrated generative AI with satellite data platforms, including the JAXA Earth API, Google Earth Engine API, and JAXA’s websites (Earth-graphy, SatNavi). Ridge-i uses its satellite data skills to help users. Even those without special training can access global environmental data. They can just ask questions in natural language to get the information they need.

Ridge-i will build on the tech from the JAXA partnership. They will now team up with 日本マイクロソフト to create a new platform. This platform will use Microsoft Planetary Computer Pro and Azure. This next stage aims to speed up the company’s global growth. It builds on its success in the Japanese market.
