GxP Inc. has launched the “X-Analysis Assistant” in Japan. This new feature uses generative AI and works with the existing “X-Analysis” tools for IBM i (formerly AS/400). The tool solves old problems with legacy system maintenance. It combines large language models like OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Claude with data from X-Analysis. This lets users ask questions about complex legacy codebases, including RPG, COBOL, and CL, using natural language.
The innovation addresses a key issue in the industry: fewer engineers know old systems. Understanding undocumented but vital applications is getting harder too. More organizations depend on IBM i systems for essential tasks. So, tools that simplify and modernize these platforms are becoming more important.

X-Analysis Assistant speeds up understanding of old code structures. This helps organizations rely less on dwindling legacy expertise. As a result, they can boost their digital transformation efforts. This change shows a bigger trend. Companies are using generative AI to refresh old IT systems. It helps connect modern development methods with older environments.
