日本電気株式会社 has added to its optical transceiver range. They introduced the ’25G SFP28 80km BiDi.’ This device can send and receive data at 25Gb/s over one fiber for up to 80 kilometers. Scheduled for shipment at the end of November 2025, the transceiver cuts down on fiber needs. It lowers deployment costs and makes installation easier. This product answers the growing need for fast communication. It’s made to boost mobile traffic and improve data center connections.
The 25G SFP28 80km BiDi uses a strong laser and a sensitive receiver for long-distance transmission. It provides a 30dB link budget, making it ideal for networks with high fiber loss or dark fiber. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) allows data to move in both directions on one fiber. This reduces infrastructure needs. It also eliminates relay equipment for distances over 40 km.

The transceiver consumes just 2.5W. This makes it efficient for use in industrial temperatures. This uses about 20% less power than standard optical semiconductor amplifiers. Works with standard SFP ports, making it easy to upgrade from current 10Gb/s systems. It offers low-cost, high-capacity growth for wide-area networks.
