KDDI will begin offering “ConnectIN,” which incorporates communications into a variety of products and services, including PCs and IoT devices, to individuals as “ConnectIN povo,” in addition to its current corporate offering, from July 31, 2025. As the first step, HP Japan Co., Ltd. will release a mobile PC equipped with “ConnectIN povo” (hereinafter referred to as “this mobile PC”) on the official HP Japan online store.
This mobile PC uses “HP eSIM Connect LITE by povo,” the “ConnectIN povo” communications service for HP Japan. It comes with povo2.0’s 300GB data capacity (for five years), which allows access to au’s 5G/4G LTE network, and Gigazo Wi-Fi, a highly secure public Wi-Fi service provided by Wire and Wireless Co., Ltd. Users can start using the service simply by purchasing the PC and registering for a povo2.0 account.
In addition to “ConnectIN” for businesses, KDDI will continue to integrate communications into various products and services through “ConnectIN povo” for individuals, aiming to use communications as a foundation to increase added value by utilizing data and AI services together with manufacturers.

HP Japan has launched the MVNO service “HP eSIM Connect” in collaboration with KDDI, and will offer HP eSIM Connect-compatible mobile PC models with unlimited data usage for five years from November 2023.
From January 21, 2025, KDDI will offer “ConnectIN” as a business model that, unlike the monthly communication fee model, sells communication fees for a fixed period to manufacturers and other companies’ products.
While eSIM has been mainly introduced in smartphones so far, it is expected to continue to be adopted in a variety of products. In particular, with the advancement of AI in both the cloud and edge computing, the communication that connects these is becoming increasingly important.
As hybrid work becomes more prevalent these days, there is a growing need for mobile PCs from individuals, including those who are self-employed, creators, and freelancers without corporate status, as well as from businesses operating on their own. This has led to the launch of ConnectIN povo.
