NETGEAR has adopted Rohde & Schwarz’s CMP180 radio tester for the development of future Wi-Fi 8 access points. Integrating this tester into its design verification test environment will allow NETGEAR to accelerate the development of Wi-Fi products with optimal performance.
Rohde & Schwarz, a leading supplier of test and measurement equipment for wireless applications, and NETGEAR, a manufacturer of advanced networking technologies and cutting-edge Wi-Fi 7 products, are collaborating to bring the next generation of Wi-Fi 8 products to market.
Wi-Fi 8 is the next generation of Wi-Fi based on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard. This new technology focuses on ultra-high reliability (UHR) WLAN, improving the user experience of wireless communications in homes, offices, and factories. It will deliver low-latency, high-speed connectivity under all conditions for gaming, learning, and business applications, enabling immersive user experiences utilizing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).

Design validation for Wi-Fi 8 access points requires test solutions that support the latest Wi-Fi 8 features, such as Distributed Resource Units (DRUs) and Unevenly Linked Modulation (UEQM). Furthermore, they must offer a maximum channel bandwidth of 320 MHz across all supported bands, the highest level of modulation (4096QAM), and the performance (EVM) and scalability (4×4 MIMO) necessary for optimizing wireless device performance.
これに対処するために ローデ・シュワルツ is providing NETGEAR with the CMP180 wireless communication tester, a future-proof non-signaling test solution for wireless devices that can be used in research and development, verification, and production. With frequencies up to 8 GHz and bandwidths up to 500 MHz, the tester supports a wide range of cellular and non-cellular technologies, from the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 to Wi-Fi 8 and 5G NR FR1.
The CMP180 integrates two analyzers, two signal generators, and two sets of eight RF ports into a single box, and can be further expanded by stacking multiple testers. As a cost-effective test solution with best-in-class performance, it meets both current and future testing needs.
The CMP180 also features high-speed multi-DUT testing capabilities, making it ideal for testing in production environments. Therefore, test engineers can use the CMP180 throughout the entire product development cycle, from engineering verification testing (EVT) to design verification testing (DVT), production verification testing (PVT), and even mass production (MP).
