Kaneka Corporation has started selling its i-ED COIL™, a medical device used to treat brain aneurysms, across Europe from October. The product received EC certification under the EU’s Medical Device Regulation in July, clearing the way for commercial distribution through Kaneka Medical Europe N.V.
The i-ED COIL™ stands out for its flexibility, made possible by the wire’s unique thickness and structure. This design allows doctors to pack coils more densely inside aneurysms and treat even irregularly shaped ones. The result is lower risk of rupture and improved treatment outcomes. Post its first call-up, the momentum has been maintained, with medical practitioners giving great feedback on the ease and technical performance of equipment.
