Rakuten Payment Co., Ltd. and Rakuten Small Amount and Short Term Insurance Co., Ltd. are pleased to announce that they will begin offering “Heat Stroke Insurance” on the Rakuten Pay cashless payment service app from Thursday July 17, 2025.
In recent years, we have been hit by record-breaking summer temperatures, increasing the risk of heatstroke. In some cases, emergency transport and medical treatment are required, and heatstroke is becoming an increasingly serious social issue. In light of this situation, Rakuten Payment and Rakuten Short-Term Credit will begin offering “Heatstroke Insurance,” which can be easily signed up for through the Rakuten Pay app and helps people prepare for heatstroke.
“Heat Stroke Insurance” pays out if you suffer physical injuries due to sun or heat exposure during the insurance period and receive intravenous treatment at a hospital in Japan at the discretion of a doctor, or if you begin hospitalization for treatment for two consecutive days (two days and one night) or more at a hospital in Japan. Premiums start from 100 yen per day for daily contracts, and even for monthly contracts, you can apply for affordable premiums starting from 200 yen per month. In addition, if you apply by 9:00 a.m., coverage will start from 10:00 a.m. on the day, so you can apply for insurance that morning even if you are expected to be at high risk of heat stroke, such as playing sports or doing various tasks under the hot sun.
