Northern Trust has, sort of, expanded its relationship with First Sentier Group after it was picked as the fund administrator for First Sentier Investors Global Growth Funds, which is a Singapore unit trust offering.
For this new mandate, Northern Trust will handle custody, fund accounting, and transfer agency services for the funds. This arrangement mixes Northern Trust’s local transfer agency strengths in Singapore with its global operating platform, so First Sentier gets a servicing structure that’s meant to keep things consistent, to scale up smoothly, and to strengthen operational resilience, while still meeting the local regulatory requirements.
The move builds on a broader relationship between the two companies that began in 2006. The Singapore mandate also expands Northern Trust’s role across First Sentier Group’s global operations and adds another collective investment scheme to the services it provides to the group.

For First Sentier, the arrangement brings together local market capabilities and global asset servicing infrastructure within its existing operating model. For Northern Trust, it further strengthens its position in supporting investment managers with services spanning fund administration, custody, investment operations, and data.
The development also reflects the growing need among global investment managers for asset servicing platforms that can combine local regulatory knowledge with scalable international infrastructure. Northern Trust’s expanded mandate will cover the operational requirements of the Singapore unit trust while fitting into First Sentier Group’s wider servicing approach
