SpaceBlast Inc., a company engaged in technology development, consulting, new business creation support, and media businesses in the space and digital domains, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as an implementing organization for the JAXA Space Strategy Fund’s “On-Orbit Data Center Construction Technology” project, and held a kick-off meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
On the day of the event, opening remarks were given by Program Officer (PO) Shinichi Nakasuka and other POs/PO assistants, followed by an address from our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Yoshifumi Sakamoto, who serves as the research representative. This was followed by an introduction of the representative organization, collaborating organizations, and JAXA’s technology development management system. Subsequently, an overview and progress report of the technology development plan, an exchange of opinions, and a simulation demonstration of the high-reliability computing system were held, and a very lively discussion took place among approximately 35 stakeholders from both inside and outside the company, including those participating online.
Moving forward, our company will continue to develop “on-orbit data center construction technology” to create an environment where space data can be utilized efficiently and quickly, and strive to build a “space-based AI cloud” that will bring innovation to users in all industrial sectors.
