Hitachi, Ltd. will begin offering “Hitachi Digital Solution for Logistics in April 2026, a solution for Chief Logistics Officers that centralizes logistics data to support the analysis of management issues and legal compliance. As improving logistics cost structures and reducing environmental impact become important management issues, the revised Logistics Efficiency Law, which will come into effect in April 2026, will make it mandatory for companies above a certain size to appoint and register a CLO who will oversee their company’s logistics issues from a management perspective and be responsible for building a sustainable supply chain and improving efficiency. This solution integrates logistics data that is fragmented across operations and locations and stored in various formats, and supports everything from the visualization of KPI (Key Performance Indicator) status to analysis, policy consideration, and implementation coordination, making it easier to grasp the current situation by providing a platform that allows for an overview of the entire supply chain.
In April 2026, as the first phase, we will begin offering a function that visualizes KPIs such as logistics costs required by the revised Logistics Efficiency Law. Specifically, it will visualize management-critical KPIs such as loading efficiency and waiting/handling time on a dashboard, and will issue alerts when deviations from standard values are detected. This will encourage users to analyze the causes and take corrective action, thereby contributing to compliance with laws and regulations and improving the productivity of logistics operations management. In the future, we will evolve it into an AI agent that supports analysis, consideration of measures, and implementation coordination, and will deploy it as part of the HMAX Industry lineup, aiming to innovate management and operations.
Hitachi positions itself as a “customer-zero” company, proactively implementing its advanced technologies and solutions, and providing value to customers based on the knowledge gained through problem-solving. In this case, Hitachi Global Life Solutions, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hitachi GLS), Hitachi Building Systems, Ltd., and Hitachi High-Tech Corporation have conducted a Proof of Concept (PoC) of this solution. Based on the logistics characteristics and operational realities of each company, they have gained insights into which logistics KPIs should be used as management indicators, what conditions should be treated as alerts, and which improvement measures should be considered in order to practically implement compliance with the revised Logistics Efficiency Law.

As a concrete example, in our collaboration with Hitachi GLS, even when vehicle data could not be obtained and calculating the load factor was difficult, we utilized this solution to visualize the volume trends by delivery destination from shipment performance data. This allowed us to understand the occurrence of small-volume, high-frequency deliveries and fluctuations in workload, which can be factors in reducing the load factor, leading to the consideration of improvement measures such as reviewing delivery frequency and delivery routes. In the first phase, we have incorporated these insights and designed a dashboard that can visualize and manage the KPIs and alert conditions necessary for logistics management.
Hitachi is committed to enhancing and optimizing the entire logistics process by leveraging advanced digital technologies. Regarding logistics centers, Hitachi possesses extensive experience and technical expertise in construction and highly efficient operation, from building design to robotics SI, the LogiRiSM AI engine for optimizing transport planning, WCS, and WMS. In the transportation and delivery domain, the various functions of HDSL contribute to improved efficiency, safety, and reduced logistics costs.
日立‘s Connected Industries (CI) sector is focusing on “Integrated Industry Automation,” which horizontally deploys “HMAX Industry,” a suite of next-generation industrial solutions combining domain knowledge and advanced AI with data from its extensive installed base (digitized doorset), to growth industries. Through the provision of “HMAX Industry,” which embodies Lumada 3.0, we will innovate the workplace for frontline workers.
