Workday, Inc., the enterprise AI platform for HR, finance, and agents, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Pipedream, a leading integration platform for AI agents. Pipedream offers more than 3,000 connectors to major business applications, enabling AI agents to initiate workflows, retrieve data, and execute tasks between Workday and major third-party systems.
Trusted data and enterprise system integration—a solid foundation for AI action
For 20 years, Workday has helped customers run their businesses as a trusted system of record for people and finance, understanding organizational structures, approval flows, financial rules, spending policies, and even the security permissions required to properly manage people and financial data. This context is the unique strength of Workday’s AI strategy, allowing AI agents built on Workday to reach the right people, at the right time, within the optimal security and compliance framework.
The addition of Pipedream’s technology to Workday will extend its intelligence to thousands of applications where work gets done every day, including Asana, HubSpot, Jira, Recurly, and Slack. This will enable customers to unify their organization’s information and workflows in Workday while taking action in the external applications their teams rely on every day. This will give AI agents the connectivity they need to go beyond providing insights and actually get work done.

For example, an AI agent can accelerate the performance review process by leveraging Workday’s deep understanding of a company’s organizational structure. It can pull project details from Jira or Asana, solicit feedback from colleagues through Slack, and update the review record directly in Workday. All of this happens securely and automatically, ensuring reviews are timely, consistent, and based on real-world work.
An end-to-end, integrated platform for building task-specific AI agents
Workday is developing an integrated, end-to-end platform for building AI agents that deliver real business value. This enables companies to build agents that deeply understand business context across the enterprise, are actionable across workflows, and drive meaningful outcomes. Our acquisitions of Sana and Flowise, as well as our recently announced agreement to acquire Pipedream, further advance this vision by providing the intelligence, orchestration, and external connectivity needed to turn insights into action.
These capabilities, integrated into the trusted ワークデイ environment, enable customers to design custom agents optimized for their organization, provide the context needed to make smart decisions, and connect with the systems where work gets done—enabling AI agents to truly get the job done.
