GMO MAKEShop, Inc., a member of the GMO Internet Group, began offering “makeshop BtoB byGMO,” a new e-commerce development platform specializing in business-to-business (BtoB) transactions, on Friday, September 12, 2025.
This service is a solution that integrates and strengthens the B2B-related functions previously offered by “makeshop byGMO.” It supports a variety of business styles, such as “open direct sales,” “membership-based wholesale,” and “agency/multi-level distribution,” and offers flexible scalability to suit the scale of business, providing strong support for companies’ digital transformation strategies in the B2B-EC field.
Companies that adopt this system will be able to streamline analog tasks such as order processing, billing, and inquiry response, which previously relied on telephone, fax, and handwritten slips, and take a smooth first step toward digital transformation.

The size of Japan’s B2B-EC market in 2024 is expected to grow 10.6% year-on-year, indicating a steady expansion in the use of EC in business-to-business transactions. In response to this market trend, the distribution amount of “makeshop byGMO’s” B2B and membership-based EC site in 2024 reached 107.8 billion yen, which accounts for approximately 31% of “makeshop byGMO’s” total distribution amount.
In BtoB-EC, the major benefits of digitizing order placement and billing processes are increased efficiency and reduced costs, and the shift from telephone, fax, and paper-based transactions to online is accelerating. To meet these needs, “makeshop byGMO” has promoted the automation of analog tasks such as Excel management and handwritten slips, steadily lowering the hurdles to building a BtoB-EC site.
“makeshop BtoB byGMO” is a step towards creating an environment where businesses can more smoothly utilize BtoB e-commerce by integrating and strengthening existing related functions in response to growing BtoB needs.
