Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. (TNB Genco), Malaysia’s leading power producer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on decarbonizing Malaysia.
This partnership aims to accelerate the energy transition in Malaysia and align with the country’s ambitious target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, according to a press release. Through the exchange of information and joint research efforts, MHI and TNB Genco will play a crucial role in advancing clean energy solutions and shaping a sustainable future for Malaysia’s power sector.
Under the MoU, 三菱重工 with support from its power solutions brand, Mitsubishi Power, and TNB Genco will conduct studies that examine three key areas related to clean power generation. These include the hydrogen and ammonia value chain in relation to hydrogen production and supply, logistics, storage and related infrastructure; low carbon fuel co-combustion technology in thermal plants; and CO2 capture.

Akihiro Ondo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific, said: “Mitsubishi Power has been actively involved in Malaysia’s power generation projects since the 1960s.
