Hitachi announced on July 8 that it will provide a “Site Safety Enhancement Solution” that uses NVIDIA’s “Omniverse” technology to help improve safety at work sites by using AI agents that have learned the safety standards of experts and a digital twin that recreates the site. The solution uses an AI agent that has learned the safety standards of experts to visually present procedures and precautions to workers through a digital twin environment that precisely recreates the work site using Omniverse’s software library. Hitachi Plant Construction’s Kashiwa Works and other locations are already considering and preparing for a phased introduction to actual operations from March 2026. It is expected to be used in educational programs for new workers, simulations of on-site work, and regular meetings aimed at preventing accidents.
Hitachi will use knowledge extraction methods obtained from hundreds of control operation technology (OT) cases within the group to build a group of AI agents that have learned the site structure, work characteristics, judgment criteria of experienced workers, and tacit knowledge. The AI agents utilize Frontline Coordinator – Naivy’s psychological stress reduction technology and other features to be appropriately configured according to the worker’s experience level, job type, and work content, and present visual and easy-to-understand work procedures and precautions to the worker in the digital twin environment. This will create an environment where all involved parties can instantly share work procedures, precautions, and risk points, contributing to safe work execution.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the “Risk Management Advanced Solution,” Hitachi Group’s safety management knowledge will be incorporated into each AI agent, and dangerous scenario simulations will be performed on the digital twin. Risk assessment, which previously relied on the personal experience and intuition of experienced workers, will be performed using unified standards by the AI agents, eliminating the variation in safety standards between departments and individuals, and creating an environment where everyone can easily understand the risks and precautions specific to the site. 日立 plans to continue expanding this service to various industrial fields, strengthening the construction of AI agents that have learned on-site knowledge and the provision of digital work environments suited to the characteristics of the site.
