Schneider Electric provides advisory services for Japanese companies in sourcing and developing reliable credit, support for corporate decarbonization can now be provided from start to finish, from strategy formulation to last-mile offsetting through credits
Schneider Electric, a leader in digital transformation in energy management and automation, has announced that it will begin offering carbon credit advisory services as part of its Sustainability Division in the Japanese market.
In the private sector, the number of companies setting decarbonization targets is increasing year by year. In a survey of 500 Japanese companies conducted by Schneider Electric together with research company Milieu Insight, 36% of the companies that have set some kind of sustainability goal set a deadline within the last four years. Carbon credits are an important means of filling the last mile in the decarbonization strategy of corporate activities, but at the same time, projects with unclear credit creation basis and inflated value are also problematic, and concerns about greenwashing, which claims value beyond reality, are growing. Therefore, in the decarbonization of companies, it is important to properly incorporate carbon offset strategies into decarbonization plans based on a correct understanding based on specialized knowledge.
Schneider Electric will now begin offering advisory services for credit procurement and development in the Japanese market. Schneider announced the completion of the acquisition of EcoAct SAS (hereinafter referred to as EcoAct), an international leader in climate consulting and net zero solutions headquartered in Paris, in November 2023. Founded in 2006, EcoAct has a portfolio of net zero and nature-based products and services, including consulting, climate data tools, and carbon offset project development, and has a track record of leading best practices and framework construction in the voluntary market as a founding member of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), an international emissions trading association. With advisory services backed by these strengths and credibility, Schneider Electric will support the development of sustainability strategies and goal setting for decarbonization across Scope 1, 2, and 3.
