NTT e-Drone Technology Inc. has agreed to acquire the development resources of the agricultural drone business that Nileworks Inc. has been developing. Going forward, we will proceed with the necessary procedures to execute the acquisition on Monday, June 30, 2025.
As a result, NTT EDRONE will be able to further accelerate its efforts to make domestic agriculture smarter, and by offering the drone market a promising option for domestically produced drones that are not reliant on overseas manufacturers, it will contribute to strengthening Japan’s agricultural and industrial base.
Japan’s agriculture industry is facing an aging population and a shortage of workers, making labor-saving, high efficiency, and high added value at production sites an urgent issue. Since its founding in 2021, NTT E-DRONE has contributed to the realization of sustainable agriculture through the manufacture and sale of agricultural drones, but in order to provide drones that meet market needs in the future, it has become necessary to expand its development resources.

On the other hand, in the domestic agricultural drone market, products from overseas manufacturers account for a large share, and concerns have been raised about risks to stable supply and security. In light of this situation, it is urgent to present the market with promising agricultural drone options made with domestic technology and to establish a system to protect Japan’s agriculture and food security.
As a result of discussions, NTT E-DRONE and Nileworks have come to an agreement on the transfer of development resources, believing that by complementing each other’s software and hardware development capabilities, it will not only contribute to the smartification of the agricultural sector in Japan, but also to promoting the spread of domestically produced drones that do not rely on overseas products. After completing the transfer, Nileworks plans to dissolve and enter into liquidation procedures after the end of September 2025.
