Altair Engineering Co., Ltd., a global leader in computational science and artificial intelligence (AI), and JetZero, a company specializing in the development of the world’s first commercial blended wing aircraft, have announced a collaboration to advance the next generation of aerospace technology innovation.
The blended wing is expected to offer better fuel efficiency, longer range and a lighter, more aerodynamic design than traditional passenger aircraft. JetZero estimates that the airframe design alone could reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 50%. Leveraging Altair® FlightStream™, part of the Altair® HyperWorks® design and simulation platform, the company performs advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to reduce computational costs while accelerating innovation and time to market.
Altair’s solutions help JetZero bridge the gap between high-fidelity CFD simulation and engineering, enabling them to solve aerodynamic and structural conceptual and preliminary design challenges faster and more efficiently than any other solver. FlightStream’s unmatched computational speed and small hardware footprint, combined with its streamlined user interface and aerodynamic solvers, make it an essential tool for rapid early design iterations and detailed aerodynamic studies.
