Asahi Kasei Bioprocess America (AKBA) and PeptiSystems have formed an exclusive global partnership. Their goal is to simplify peptide manufacturing processes. AKBA will be the exclusive OEM for peptide synthesis columns for PeptiSystems. PeptiSystems focuses on research, development, production, and distribution of instruments for peptide and oligonucleotide therapy.
AKBA is part of the Asahi Kasei Life Science segment. This segment covers four main areas: purification, fluid management, biosafety, and biologics. This partnership brings together AKBA’s industry knowledge and product creativity with PeptiSystems’ cutting-edge synthesis technology.
AKBA will give PeptiSystems, located in Uppsala, Sweden, its THESYS® ACS Ergo design. This next-generation column was unveiled in 2024. This column is made for peptide processing. It cuts down batch changeover time. Also, it keeps safety and product quality high. AKBA’s high-performance columns and PeptiSystems’ flow-through synthesis systems will work together. This combination offers a powerful and efficient solution for peptide synthesis.

The partnership will extend to all global markets relevant to peptide synthesis, including pharmaceutical and contract manufacturing sectors. Based on flow-through chemistry and solid support, the alliance is expected to introduce evolutionary advancements in peptide processing for the industry and its customers.
“This partnership is a natural next step as we expand our presence in the TIDES market,” added Chris Rombach, President of Asahi Kasei Bioprocess America. “By aligning our column expertise with PeptiSystems ’ innovative synthesis systems, we are building foundational technologies that deliver value to our customers.”
This announcement follows the recent operational launch of Asahi Kasei Bioprocess America Life Sciences, under which AKBA now operates. The Life Sciences division also includes brands such as Planova™ and Microfilters BioOptimal™, contract research services from Austria-based ViruSure, testing services from Bionique Testing Laboratories, and contract development and manufacturing services provided by Bionova Scientific.
