Timee Co., Ltd., which provides the part-time job service “Timee,” has signed a business partnership agreement with Sapporo City, Hokkaido.
Sapporo, the political, economic and cultural centre of Hokkaido, is an attractive city where urban life and nature coexist in harmony. The city centre, including Sapporo Station, Odori Park and Susukino, is a bustling business and shopping area, while a short distance away you will find beautiful nature in every season, making it a popular tourist destination. The city is also famous as a food capital, with a wide range of local delicacies, including fresh seafood, ramen, Genghis Khan and soup curry. Various events are held in the city throughout the year, with the Sapporo Snow Festival attracting not only local residents but also tourists from all over the world.
Sapporo’s population trends have been such that natural decline will exceed social decline since 2021, and the city is moving into a phase of population decline. According to Sapporo City’s independently calculated future population estimates based on the results of the 2020 census, the working-age population that supports the city’s economic activity is estimated to be 810,000 in 2060, a decrease of 400,000 from 1.21 million as of 2020. As a result of this situation, a labor shortage of approximately 220,000 is expected around 2050.
