AltX Research Inc. is pleased to announce that it has released its first testnet for Japan Smart Chain (JSC), as well as a demo of its modular trust and compliance layer, Mizuhiki Suite, to invited engineers developing blockchain-based web3 applications.
JSC is a Layer 1 blockchain developed in Japan that is fully compatible with Ethereum and validated by industry leaders in Japan. With a focus on compliance, JSC incorporates blacklisting and transaction priority control, providing a reliable infrastructure for providing compliant digital asset services while maintaining user convenience.
The Mizuhiki Suite is a modular set of tools for on-chain identity, compliance, and risk management built on this foundation, enabling businesses to launch compliant digital services without relying on fragmented off-chain processes.

The JSC testnet launch allows engineers to test existing or new applications and prepare them for the mainnet launch planned for 2026. The testnet is currently limited to invited engineers and JSC Vision Partners only and includes access to an RPC endpoint, a testnet faucet for gas, a testnet block explorer, and a community forum where engineers can interact.
The name “Kaigan,” given to the testnet unveiled today for the first time, represents the initial stage of JSC, which will bring innovation to the Japanese ecosystem—the moment when potential energy begins to take shape. The name comes from the Japanese tea ceremony term “crab eye,” which refers to the moment when water begins to boil and small bubbles form, representing the exquisite transition from stillness to activity. In the tea ceremony, this moment is considered symbolic of a spiritual shift from inaction to action, from serenity to dynamic activity. JSC’s testnet, “Kaigan,” truly symbolizes this “first step,” and we anticipate that many use cases and implementations will be realized through “Kaigan,” leading to the full-scale launch of JSC.
