Akuru Corporation, a Tokyo-based provider of solutions for preventing fraudulent credit card use, has begun supplying its fraud detection and authentication system ASUKA to Creema SPRINGS, the e-commerce platform operated by Creema Inc.
The move comes amid a sharp rise in credit card fraud in Japan. According to data released by the Japan Credit Association, losses from fraudulent credit card use reached 51.3 billion yen in 2024. Against this backdrop, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry issued updated Credit Card Security Guidelines in March 2025, urging e-commerce merchants to strengthen security measures across online payment processes.
To address these challenges while maintaining a smooth purchasing experience, Creema SPRINGS has introduced Akuru’s ASUKA system. With this setup, the platform now uses EMV 3-D Secure Operation Pattern ②. It checks the risk level of each transaction to decide if personal authentication is needed. This method allows authentication only when needed. It cuts down on checkout hassle while keeping strong security.

ASUKA looks at transaction data and user details in real time. It detects fraud signs and automatically applies the correct authentication steps. The system lowers cart abandonment rates by balancing fraud controls with a smooth user experience. This protects real sales opportunities and reduces the risk of unauthorized transactions.
Akuru and Creema are working together to improve the safety and reliability of the Creema SPRINGS platform. Akuru will keep working closely with Creema. They aim to support secure e-commerce and help reduce credit card fraud in online retail.
