BrainPad Inc. announced on January 28 that it has resolved to establish “BrainPad AI Agent Inc.” as a wholly owned subsidiary of the company and to launch a new business related to AI agents.
Since its founding in 2004, the Group’s purpose has been to “create a sustainable future by promoting the use of data,” and its medium-term vision is to “create a society where data is used as easily as breathing,” as it strives to create a world in which data utilization is widespread in corporate activities across a wide range of industries and in people’s lives.
Our group has been exploring new business opportunities by dividing the characteristics of generative AI, which has been rapidly developing in recent years, into two types: assistant type (support type), which learns certain information from humans and supports human decision-making, and agent type (autonomous type), which enables autonomous execution of complex tasks by considering the situation and conditions. As a pioneer in the use of data/AI in Japan, and based on the issues experienced in the past big data and AI booms, we have chosen the “use of autonomous AI agents” as a new business opportunity that goes beyond the simple spread of generative AI technology and leads to direct and fundamental problem solving.
The newly established subsidiary will be positioned within the group as a service development company that develops and provides autonomous AI agent services, and will begin by gradually expanding its services, starting with the already announced “BrainPad Annotation Agent (*1)”. In addition to simply developing and providing AI agents, the subsidiary will also look to stay ahead of the times and provide services that eliminate bottlenecks that are impeding the widespread use of AI agents.
The Group believes that data is the foundation of AI agents, and will pour the data utilization technology it has cultivated into the new subsidiary. By creating business synergies with other Group companies and expanding services, the Group plans to grow the AI agent business into a multi-billion yen business for the entire Group, and through the business, contribute to resolving Japan’s labor shortage and improving productivity.
