Genelith Technologies Inc., a company that develops custom AI for the manufacturing industry, is pleased to announce that its project, “Bringing the Eyes of Experts to AI – Demonstration of Rework Reduction and Skill Transfer in Manufacturing through 3D Design Data Automated Drawing Review AI (VLM),” has been selected for the second phase of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s startup social implementation promotion project, “PoC Ground Tokyo,” in fiscal year 2026. We are also seeking manufacturing companies in Tokyo to cooperate in this demonstration.
In the design field, “drawing verification,” where experienced designers visually check whether 3D models meet design requirements, is the last line of defense for quality assurance in the design process. However, as experienced designers retire, it becomes difficult to pass on this knowledge, and oversights discovered in later processes such as mold making can lead to significant rework.

In this demonstration, we will verify an “automatic 3D design data review AI” using real data from a manufacturing company in Tokyo. This AI uses a Visual Language Model (VLM) to understand 3D models, design requirements, and cross-sectional drawings, and outputs a report with supporting evidence determining whether the requirements are met. Numerical values such as dimensions are precisely calculated from CAD data by a geometric calculation engine, and the AI is configured to focus on determining “what to look at and what to question.” The AI provides supportive information, and the final decision is made by the designer.
