Innodisk launches CAN network modules for unmanned intelligent systems

Innodisk (5289.TWO) recently launched its latest CAN network modules. With a complete line of form factors and rigorous industrial quality, these products have proven to be indispensable in the success of unmanned systems. Demand for unmanned systems has seen marked growth since 2020, with a Fortune Business Insights report estimating a CAGR of 12.23% for the UAV segment. Many pillars from different sectors have felt the impact of unmanned systems, such as agriculture, logistics, transport and aerospace, and all have begun to consider the benefits of unmanned vehicle technologies.

Unmanned aircraft are at the center of all unmanned systems, but at the center of all unmanned systems is the CAN network. With the continuous expansion, increasing complexity and higher efficiency requirements imposed by new applications, it is essential that the CAN network module can operate in severe conditions, such as extreme temperatures and electromagnetic interference. Innodisk CAN network modules support wide temperature, 2.5 kv insulation protection and SAE J1939 and CANopen high-layer protocols necessary to ensure optimal performance in extreme conditions without degradation.

Among the newest adherents is the application in unmanned flights, which has used Innodisk CAN network modules in the most current aircraft. The USB module for CAN network from Innodisk has been successfully integrated into autonomous commercial drones, as well as agricultural machinery, robot operating systems (ROS), automated guided vehicles (AGV) and for all types of intelligent applications. The CAN network made it possible to control the system, interact with the on-board computer and various CAN devices, in addition to diagnosing problems at ground stations.

“We think it’s really cool that Innodisk’s CAN network modules are successfully supporting our customers’ designs for different smart applications,” said Johnny Wu , senior manager of Innodisk’s smart peripheral application department. He added: “Using Innodisk products for its unmanned devices reaffirms our commitment to offering the most durable products on the market. We are proud to have played a small but crucial role in your projects.”

CAN network solutions sufficiently capable of withstanding the challenges of these harsh environments had, until now, been a major obstacle to the development of reliable systems. Innodisk CAN network modules offer complete hardware and software integration and different form factors to meet diverse demands. For integrators and engineers looking to introduce their products into the space of unmanned systems, it is essential that your hardware solution meets the strict requirements of these industrial environments.
