In view of a decreasing labor force, a growing elderly population, and increasing automation needs, Japan is joining government authorities, tech firms, robotics providers, and AI experts to design a new generation of robots designed to work autonomously in real conditions.<\/p>

Such an endeavor is a result of a general Japanese policy aimed at enhancing the country’s leading role in the field of Physical AI, or artificial intelligence that can enable robots to perceive, understand, and act in the physical world. Collaboration among NVIDIA, Fujitsu, SoftBank, NEC, Sony Group, Honda, and the recently formed Japanese AI consortium Noetra illustrate Japan’s rapid formation of an ecosystem consisting of AI models, high-performance computing, robotics, and semiconductors to revolutionize many sectors including manufacturing and healthcare.<\/p>
