Japan is making one of the most important reforms of its security system since the end of World War II through an attempt to establish the country’s first centralized intelligence agency in almost eight decades. The establishment will help to create better cooperation between existing intelligence agencies, boost national security decision-making processes, and enable Japan to counter growing threats in a complex geopolitical and cyber environment. The new intelligence agency is a result of the country’s attempts to update its defense and intelligence systems in response to increasing security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.<\/p>
