Three Japanese telecommunications giants of the past, NTT DOCOMO, Inc., and NEC Corporation have launched the country’s first commercial 5G standalone (SA) core network that is deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and powered by AI, automated network construction technology. The announcement of the company is a lot of news and will be a milestone for the whole country. It will change the way something is done forever<\/p>\n
The new media will be used to spread and deepen people’s knowledge of the advanced 5G service, cut the company’s operational costs and give them great flexibility in the running of the network. In this way, Japanese mobile operators will be given the tools to compete with bands from different countries and at the same time, they will be able to open new business channels in the fields of IoT, edge computing and private 5G networks.<\/p>\n
Unlike 5G networks previously rolled out that are dependent on legacy core infrastructure, a standalone (SA) 5G core is a complete 5G system that supports the full range of native 5G capabilities including network slicing, ultra, low latency and enhanced capacity. Hosting this core on AWS, DOCOMO and NEC are therefore leveraging public cloud scalability and advanced operational tooling while freeing core network functions from dependence on proprietary hardware. The biggest breakthrough is the adoption of NEC’s AI, automated network construction technology. This technology radically simplifies and speeds up the historically complex and labor, intensive operations of network functions building and validation. Through automating configuration, testing, and deployment steps with AI, operators will be able to introduce updates and new services at a much quicker pace and at significantly lower costs.<\/p>\n
