The Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) reported on the 10th that Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is considering such a system.<\/p>

In May, the Japanese National Assembly passed a law on “active cyber defense” that allows cyberattacks to be prevented in advance. The law requires important infrastructure operators closely related to people’s lives to report damage in the event of a cyber attack. As a result, demand for cybersecurity is expected to increase.<\/p>

Nikkei explained the system, “We will examine whether it is being unfairly affected by China and other countries of concern and check its safety.”<\/p>

He added that there is still a similar system called the “Information Security Service Examination Registration System”, but the limitation is to examine based on service quality. The certification system focuses on confirming the reliability of companies, including foreign influences. It also checks the possibility of information leaking to foreign countries using overseas programs.<\/p>
