Panasonic Automotive Systems’ “VERZEUSE(R) for Virtualization Extensions Type-3” monitors communications between software areas that are at increased risk of intrusion by attackers due to their connection to external vehicle networks (e.g., infotainment system containers on vehicle control virtual machines) and software areas that contain critical vehicle functions such as control functions and software update functions (e.g., vehicle control containers on vehicle control virtual machines). By placing the monitoring function in an isolated container, communications are monitored from a secure area, and suspicious communications are detected and blocked. This protects critical vehicle functions from cyberattacks and enhances vehicle safety. This method also complies with the security requirements required for next-generation cockpit systems that use virtualized environments.<\/p>

“xCarbon,” provided by VicOne, is embedded security software for vehicles that detects and defends against cyberattacks. By linking with the extended interface of “VERZEUSE(R) for Virtualization Extensions Type-3,” “xCarbon” monitors communication data between containers and protects next-generation cockpit systems from attacks that exploit vulnerabilities and communication anomalies. Furthermore, “VERZEUSE(R) for Virtualization Extensions Type-3” selects high-risk communications and passes them to “xCarbon,” enabling more efficient security monitoring.<\/p>
