Dattara Inc. will begin offering the closed alpha version (invitation-only) of “Fractale,” a new data collaboration platform that utilizes spatiotemporal IDs to handle domestic and international open data across borders, from December 17, 2025.
At Startup Japan 2025 Osaka, which will be held in Osaka in 2025, we will exhibit a demo based on Fractale’s concept and closed alpha version, and give a preview of the future vision of the next-generation open data platform.
Fractale is an open data platform that allows users to browse related open datasets from around the world with a single search. By selecting a dataset of interest, users can obtain metadata such as the publisher, region, period, and license in a format that can be used for analysis in their own environment (laptop, cloud environment, etc.). Users can then immediately use the data in BI tools, machine learning, application development, and more.

Fractale will implement spatiotemporal IDs in open data worldwide, in line with the Japanese Data Space Initiative , which is being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and is centered around spatiotemporal IDs. By assigning common “time” and “location” information to data, it will create a situation where data from different fields can be treated in the same context. This will provide an environment where information that is normally managed separately, such as tourism and transportation, disaster prevention and demographics, urban development and economic indicators, can be easily linked and analyzed.
The interface and main documentation are available in both Japanese and English, allowing anyone from local government officials in Japan to researchers and developers overseas to use the same environment. By March 2026, we aim to support open data sets from three countries, including Japan, and gradually expand the number of countries and regions covered, with the aim of creating a data platform that can be used globally.
